The Perfect Dublin Honeymoon with Flytographer!

Meet Kimberly & Josh, the real #WanderableCouple who captured their honeymoon the Flytographer way

unnamed

We cannot stop gushing over Kimberly and Josh’s perfect love story. The two met in law school, became close friends, which later blossomed into something much more (which may or may not involve a Disney/Pixar proposal). These two lovebirds chose the funky Dublin for their honeymoon which could not have been more perfect. We got the chance to catch up with Kimberly and Josh to get a closer look at their epic love story & honeymoon, which was captured by the one and only Flytographer {Pssst make sure to check out Flytographer’s article and photo series on these two}!

Give us a little background on the two of you: how did you meet, how long have you been together, when did you get married, and any fun facts?

Well, we met nearly three years ago in law school. Josh and I both went to Wake Forest University to study and we actually met on the first day. We were friends at first—studying together and hanging out with friends mostly—but it eventually turned into a wonderful relationship… and, well, the rest is history I guess! He proposed in Charlotte, North Carolina last July while I was working up there as a prosecutor, and we were married on May 4, 2015. He swears it has nothing to do with “Star Wars” day, but I’m not so sure! Haha.

How did he propose?

First, it’s important to understand I am a HUGE fan of all things Disney. I grew up near Disneyland in California, watch Pixar and Disney movies often, and even listen to the soundtracks as I drive around or study. Josh actually first introduced himself to me because of a Pixar wallpaper I had on my computer. He commented on the wallpaper during our first week of classes, and that’s what got us talking. Anyways, Josh decided to throw some Disney magic into the proposal and contacted Pixar to see if they could help. They were gracious to have John Lasseter (the head of Pixar and the director of my favorite movie Toy Story) write me a beautiful letter, and had a  drawing framed that put all of the pixar characters around an Etch-A-Sketch where the words “will you marry me” written inside.

When he came to Charlotte, Josh wanted to take me to a nice dinner and an off-broadway show. He had been working at a law firm in another city and we hadn’t seen each other for a couple of weeks. When we went out to dinner, I must say he was acting a bit strange, but I had no idea what was about to happen. We’d finished dinner and there was still a good time before the show, so Josh suggested we take a walk in a nearby park to enjoy the summer evening. As we parked though, he mentioned that he got “something” for my apartment, but it was in the trunk of his car… and that he wanted to show me before we went on a walk. As we parked and got out of the car, he produced two large, wrapped frames. I began opening the first one with all of the characters, and by the time I realized what was going on; he got down on one knee to propose. It was just wonderful! The second picture had the phrase “You’ve got a friend in me.” I cried, he breathed for the first time that day, we called our parents, and had a wonderful night thereafter! The pictures are hanging on our wall now, and I love looking at them and remembering that moment.

Why did you decide to go with a honeymoon registry?

We decided to go with a honeymoon registry because we didn’t really need anything for our house. We both had a lot of things before we got married, and when we were going through different registries, we couldn’t find anything we really needed. Wanderable was great because we were able to have our dream honeymoon, without spending a lot.

What was your favorite part about using Wanderable?

It was super user friendly and made it so we didn’t have to do much additional research. We did a lot of the suggested or sponsored trips, and they were by far some of the best experiences we had in Ireland.

What was your favorite thing you did on your honeymoon?

We did three different tours with Extreme Ireland. They were fantastic. We got to see the entire country in a fun, stress-free way. Our guides were super knowledgable and we hit a lot of sites we never would have known about without the tours.

What is the #1 place on your bucket list right now?

We are currently planning our next big adventure on the other side of the country: Japan!

Do you have any advice for people getting engaged? What should they do right away and what can they wait on?

We made sure to just enjoy the whole process and we did what felt right for us, rather than trying to please a bunch of people. The wedding/ honeymoon shouldn’t be stressful. Ours wasn’t and we couldn’t have been happier.

Spotlight: Delovely Details

Here at Wanderable, we wholeheartedly believe in dreaming big. Our new friend, Nicole of Delovely Detailstotally embodies this mantra by having turned her dreams into a reality. What started off as a fun hobby, quickly turned into a successful operation with her husband Drew by her side. Whether you’re looking for a personalized engraved hanger or a fancy-shmancy personalized stir stick, Delovely Details is your answer. These are the perfect customizable wedding gifts and can even be found on Etsy. So what are you waiting for? Check it out!
Delovely Details 1

What’s the inspiration behind your company? How did it start?

My two best friends got married just a few months apart from each other. I was a bridesmaid in one and a maid of honor in the other. Having to be in two weddings, just a few months apart, can be costly. Two bridesmaid dresses, several showers, gifts, bachelorette weekends, it all adds up. When their wedding days came, I knew I wanted to give them something meaningful and special. Not having a whole lot of extra cash around, my husband and I used an old school woodburning kit to burn their new married names on hangers to hang their dresses on. It was a hit and everyone insisted that I start to sell them. The rest is, as they say, history.

Delovely Details 6

What is your absolute favorite item on the website?

My favorite item on our website is the new stir sticks we have. I love that we can completely customize them, and they aren’t only for weddings. We brought custom stir sticks to all our family gatherings over the holidays, to baby showers, and to birthday parties. Even on nights where it’s just my husband and I, sometimes we will throw a stir stick in our drink just to make ourselves feel fancy.

Delovely Details 7

How did you and your husband meet?

My husband, Drew, and I actually met while we were both attending high school, rival high schools to be exact. My best friend was dating one of Drew’s best friends. They introduced us and we just hit it off. Now they are married and we are married. We are one big happy family!

Delovely Details 2

What is it like working as a husband/wife team?

Running a business and being married has made for a very interesting relationship. Unlike most people believe, we do not get tired of each other. If anything, it is completely the opposite. I think we crave more time together because even though we work together, we don’t get a lot of “couple-quality” time in. We make sure we understand that during certain hours of the day, we can be “business partners” but firstly, we are always “husband and wife”.

Delovely Details 4

Do you travel a lot for work or for pleasure? What is your favorite place you have ever been?

So far, all of our traveling has been for pleasure. However, that’s actually going to change a bit this year, which is exciting. We try to plan a big vacation once a year and for the most part, it’s been to Europe. My absolute favorite place, probably has to be Positano. I can’t help but smile when I think back on it.

What destinations are on your bucket list?

I really want to see the rest of France, Amsterdam, Iceland, and Hawaii (I have never been!). It’s really hard to come close to narrowing it down. I want to go everywhere!

twenty20_2317afc3-84fc-4a1d-92d0-11ca39f8cd09

What advice do you have for any aspiring dreamers/designers?

I think my biggest piece of advice is to follow your own path. That goes for traveling and designing. Let things inspire you, but create your own work. You’ll be much happier down a road you made than trying to navigate someone else’s.

Delovely Details 5

What are you feeling/loving/reading right now?

I’m feeling really excited about upcoming trips we have planned! I’m loving all the amazing people I’ve met in my industry. I’m reading Amy Poehler’s Yes, Please. (She’s hilarious!)

Delovely Details 3

If you could choose one of our Wanderable Experiences (we have over 2,800!) which one would it be and why?

My husband and I leave for UK and Ireland in less than 100 days! On our last trip to Paris, my husband surprised me with a professional photo shoot in front of the Eiffel Tower. The pictures from that shoot are my favorite souvenirs I’ve ever gotten from any place I’ve ever been! So I love that Wanderable offers photo shoots for some of their cities! I’d definitely sign up for a photo shoot in Dublin, Ireland!

10647654_10203199170034226_1563419150_n

What did we tell you? Are these not the greatest and most unique gifts? AND they are affordable. What more could you ask for? Keep Delovely Details in mind when picking out your next wedding gift or even birthday gift! We cannot wait to see what else Nicole and Drew have in store!

#WanderingEyes: Kelsea Holder

Wedding photographer, Kelsea Holder, captures ethereal, sultry beauty in anything and everything

Kelsea

We hope you wanderers have been enjoying our series #WanderableGypset, in which we glean highlights from the lives of some of our favorite professional haute-bohemian travelers. In this new series, #WanderingEyes, we will shine a light on artists who travel the world documenting its beauty, and our second feature is the brilliant wedding photographer, Kelsea Holder, whose kind demeanor and exacting eye have taken her to delicious heights.

Screen Shot 2015-03-18 at 1.07.26 PM

Who is this Kelsea Holder, you ask?

She is a wedding photographer of the most insanely talented variety. She calls the Central Coast home but finds herself jetsetting across the globe on many adventures yearly to lend her eye to young couples’ unions and capture their magic. The way she captures the chic subtlety of her subjects, it’s no mystery her eyes have led her to wander from Iceland to France to California and everywhere in between. We are obsessed with her homegrown, youthful aesthetic, as she seems to capture not only young couples’ gorgeousness, but their giddiness as well.

Kelsea Holder 6

Here are some of our absolute favorite snaps and an exclusive one-on-one with the wunderkind herself.

Wanderable: What inspired you to become a wedding photographer? Was it something you always dreamed of, or something you just fell into?

Kelsey: It’s cheesy to say but I’ve been tinkering with cameras from a young age.  Not only photography struck me…so did painting, drawing, and sculpture. In college. Once I began taking photography seriously, my life changed. I had finally embraced what I wanted deeply in my heart to be doing, and I haven’t looked back.

Kelsea Holder 1

W: What is your favorite part of photographing weddings? What is the biggest challenge?

K: I love the amazing people I get to meet through wedding photography. My couples have always been so adventurous, kind, interesting, and in love! And usually their friends, family, and guests that I get to meet, are brilliant as well. The biggest challenge is finding time for myself because I get so wrapped up with what I do. But taking moments to relax and recharge my creativity is also important, so I have to remind myself to take a breather!

Kelsea Holder 10

W: What is the coolest place you have ever traveled?

K: Actually, Iceland. Generally I love bustling cities with swarms of people and the amazing history and culture they bring, but I like wandering off-the-beaten-path every once in a while. The population of sheep outnumbers humans in Iceland, so it seemed to be the perfect getaway from craziness and stress! My boyfriend and I rented a campervan and we spent almost two weeks trekking around exploring Iceland’s awe-inspiring nature. It was unforgettable.

photo-1415226556993-1404e0c6e727

W: Where’s on your bucket list?

K: I didn’t think I could have any more destinations on my bucket list…until I peeked onto Wanderable!! If I had to narrow it down, I’d say I’m really interested to experience Southeast Asia now, as well as New Zealand.

bali-beach-clouds-672-830x550

W: What are you feeling/loving/reading/capturing right now?

K: I’m leaving for a month-long trip to Europe in April. So as of now, I’m reading travel blogs and looking at way too many photos of castles and French food, and starting to get excited for the aesthetic inspiration this trip will bring.

Kelsea Holder 9

W: If you could choose one of our Wanderable Experiences, which one would it be and why?

K: Don’t make me choose!! I think this Winter weather has me googley-eyed over the Phuket Island tour. It would be incredible to experience such a starkly different culture and be able to witness such a calm, breathtaking place. Give me some sunshine, Thai food, and toes in that blue water, and I’ll be more than alright.
