We imagine some of you might be more visual learners (we know we certainly are). Well, if you’re having trouble grasping the otherworldly appeal of either Bali or Myanmar, we have some eye candy for you. In honor of the Oscars this past weekend, we decided it would be the perfect opportunity to give a shout-out to two epic short travel films that you won’t be able to stop watching.

Month In Myanmar

We are ready to hop on a plane! These ladies make Myanmar look cozy and sumptuous. Good thing AmaWaterways has just launched their Myanmar itinerary, who does an equally golden job of touring through this tiny but powerful country.

Lost in a Dream: Bali

Next, check out the Wanderable couple behind Hiishii Creative who spent months living their dream life in Bali and masterfully documenting their adventures. Their free-wheeling, surf-all-day-dance-all-night philosophy is infectious! And if you’re dreaming about Bali, may we recommend Alexa Private Cruises, who are featured in the video (how can you not love that majestic boat at the 2:05 mark?!).

This is the creme de la creme of cruise getaways, a once in a lifetime experience that will redefine what travel means to you. First of all, boarding the yacht is akin to something out of a Hemingway novel. It is designed down to the last detail, and it feels kind of magical from the moment you step on deck. Oh, and, did we mention, you’ll be the only guests? That’s right, it’s a private yacht for two that includes seafood barbeques, spa therapy and pro diving.

Perhaps these films will ignite your wanderlust. Or if you’re planning to travel, perhaps they’ll spark an idea for documenting your trip. At the very least, peek in the windows of other worlds and learn about these far-off lands.

Oh, and add travel to your to-do list.

Cruise Control: Grow Your Sea Legs with AmaWaterways and Wanderable

Ever considered a river cruise? Well, you should– with Amawaterways and Wanderable.

Swiss Cities: Basel

As lovers of the water, we are very proud to announce our partnership with AmaWaterways, a true revolutionary in the field of river cruising. This sweet, family-owned business specializes in custom ships built to make your voyage truly comfortable and majestic. We went to the trouble of going to Paris & Normandy just for you, Wanderers, so you can peep some pics from our glamorous, cozy, magical trip with Amawaterways, below. It was really hard…but, you know, someone’s gotta do it.

River cruises are a great option for all ages of travelers…more seasoned couples who might be enjoying a second honeymoon or renewing of their vows, or young spritely things just venturing out onto the ocean for the first time. With so many different activities and experiences available on the ship, the experience is whatever you desire it to be– the daily tours are top notch (and their are multiple ones each day, depending on your interests) but if you’re into going it alone, grab a bike from the boat and venture out. You won’t be disappointed.

Normandy by Bike:  A must

Did we mention that Amawaterways was an all-inclusive trip? This is a big plus: you don’t have to get nervous that you’re racking up crazy bill.  You can sit back, relax and enjoy every moment. This gives you the freedom to try new things, hang out with new people (your fellow cruise mates will become permanent pen-pals by the last day) while getting a holistic travel experience.

Plus, Amawaterways likes to keep it small: so you’re not getting onto some monster cruise liner.  With only about 200 people on board (including the crew) the personal touch can be seen in everything they do.  The cruise director actually came up to our group on the second night and told us about an off-the-beaten-path, 2 star Michelin restaurant in Caudebec, inside the chef’s house. He offered to make us reservations because he knew we were foodies.  Seriously, you just don’t get service like that every day.

Rudi, the president of Ama, discusses his philosophy: “We love what we do — providing our guests with the best travel experiences possible. In fact, ‘Ama’ is derived from the Latin word for “love.” It is a concept that permeates every aspect of our river cruises, from the design of our ships to the development of our itineraries to the high levels of service we deliver to our guests.”

AmaWaterways is truly a stellar brand, and we are thrilled to announce to you that we’re launching 5 itineraries with them today. They are: Douro, Portugal;  East AfricaProvence & SpainVietnam, Cambodia, & the Mekong and Paris & Normandy.  Plus, the first three couples that registry get some special treats: chocolate and champagne in their room, and a a private champagne reception with the captain before the welcome dinner.

So, Wanderers, even though a river cruise might not necessarily be the fist thing you think about when you think about going to Europe or Africa, we dare you to think differently.  With Amawaterways and Wanderable, it’s all about five-star service, amazing experiences, meeting new people, and exploring a different world.
