5 Things To Do On Your Riviera Maya Honeymoon

Thanks to its many white-sand beaches, jungle terrain, awe-inspiring historic attractions, and countless luxury resorts, Mexico’s Riviera Maya remains an ever-popular honeymoon destination.

Below we’ve listed five of our can’t-miss activities and experiences while visiting on your honeymoon trip of a lifetime.

Where to Eat

Hartwood – You’ll dine under the stars beneath swaying palm trees at this picturesque spot. The restaurant uses wood burning ovens and open grills to prepare fresh, local food (from grilled fish to pork belly). Meanwhile, the beach huts, whitewashed roofs, wooden tables, and candles all add to the romantic atmosphere.

Where to Drink

Gitano – The jungle merges with a club atmosphere at Gitano, one of Tulum’s hottest restaurants. Overall, it’s a terrific choice for capping off the night with mixed drinks and light snacks. Couples have a long list of terrific cocktails to choose from, however our favorite is the Stardust, made with mezcal, dark rum, pineapple, papaya and a homemade coconut cream.

Where to Stay

Habitas Tulum – We’re huge fans of this boutique hotel, which just opened in 2017. The eco-friendly retreat — situated on one of most spectacular stretches of sand in the region — features an elegant bohemian design and glamping-style accommodations. Among the top highlights: fantastic dining on the beach, a seafront infinity pool, nature trails through the jungle, and a private beach.

What to Do

Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve – This massive reserve was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is an astounding home to thousands of species of fauna and flora. Couples can take part in snorkel tours, fly fishing, sunset birdwatching, and even an ancient Mayan tour that combines visits to historic sites with unique outdoor activities like snorkeling.

Bike Tour – With countless historical sites, dreamy beach scenes and ample jungle terrain, the Riviera Maya is a fantastic place to embark on a bicycle tour. Many excursions such as Tulum Bike Tours incorporate food stops, unique shopping detours, and even a dip in a breathtaking cenote along the route.

Hotels We Love for a Honeymoon: Rosewood Baha Mar, Bahamas

The megaresort complex of Baha Mar is the hottest new development in the Caribbean (with a $4.2-billion price tag).

While it’s composed of three different resorts, the forthcoming Rosewood Baha Mar — which is situated on the incredible white sands of Nassau’s Cable Beach — promises to be the most luxe.

Post up in your residential-style room before testing your luck at the 100,000 square-foot casino, playing a round on the Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, getting massages at the ESPA spa, or dining at one of 20 different restaurants and bars.

We promise nowhere else in the Caribbean will you eat sushi as delicious as at Katsuya by Starck Baha Mar.

Are turquoise waters and soft white sands calling your name? This incredible property will be the perfect fit for your once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon getaway.

Honeymoon With a View: Explora Patagonia Hotel, Chile

Our latest edition of “Honeymoon With a View” takes us to Chile’s spectacular Patagonia region.

Patagonia is sometimes referred to as the end of the world, and the Explora Patagonia hotel is situated right in the thick of things, as the only hotel inside Chile’s Torres del Paine national park, the southernmost tip of South America.

Glaciers, lakes, rivers and forests are framed by mountains and enormous granite pillars, while exotic species of bird, puma and deer roam the land.

Room: Exploradores Suite
View: Untouched Patagonia landscape

TV-free rooms keep the focus on the natural landscape outside, and the wide windows bring an almost IMAX-like feeling into your bedroom.

The hotel happens to host over 50 adventurous outdoor expeditions, but we won’t fault you for taking a day (or few) off to soak in this scene from the comforts of your bedroom.

8 Amazing Activities for a Honeymoon in Bermuda

Bermuda has attracted honeymoon couples for decades thanks to its pristine pink sand beaches, extraordinary resorts, and turquoise waters. Although tiny (it’s only 21 miles long by one mile wide), the island is packed with thrilling and one-of-a-kind activities. Below, we’ve revealed eight of our favorites, a collection of can’t-miss experiences that should guarantee an unforgettable honeymoon.

Hit the Beach

Bermuda has nearly 25 miles of beach ranging from long sandy stretches to intimate coves and rocky shores. Most of the island’s best sand beaches can be found on the South Shore where the water tends to be rougher and conditions are often ideal for body surfing. North Shore beaches tend to be rockier but the water calmer.

Located on the south shore, Horseshoe Bay is truly spectacular with its wide beach and rocky coves. Elsewhere, Church Bay is perfect for snorkeling, while John Smith’s Bay is long, flat, and usually untouched by tourists.

Scuba Diving

For divers, Bermuda boasts some of the most spectacular scuba diving in the world with more than 350 shipwrecks and 230 miles of reefs to explore. Bermuda’s reefs are home to more than 10,000 species of marine life from the humble sea fan to migratory whales. Crystal clear waters mean visibility is often good up to 150 feet. If you are not a swimmer, you can still enjoy the underwater world by going helmet-diving and walking on the ocean floor

Spa Time

Bermuda, with its unhurried pace of life, is the perfect place to unwind after a wedding. Take advantage of one of the island’s growing number of first-class spas to really relax while on your honeymoon. Whether you go for an invigorating hour or a full, indulgent day, it is the way to relax, rejuvenate, and revitalize yourself. Sense, a Rosewood Spa, Willow Stream Spa, and the Spa at Elbow Beach are three of the top spas on the island.

Explore the Island via Moped

One of the best ways to see the island is to rent a moped during your stay. Buzzing around on your moped, you will uncover deserted beaches, cricket matches, and other island life. The island’s speed limit is 25 mph so you can enjoy the beautiful views without having to worry that they are passing by too fast.

Rent a Boat

You can rent your own Boston Whaler or sailboat and enjoy a picnic on a secluded island, go snorkeling and relax on a beautiful beach. Or take a kayak and explore the dozens of coves and bays around the island. The turquoise waters are so clear that you will be able to enjoy the spectacular marine life without even going under the surface.

Jet Ski Safari

If you are an adrenaline junkie couple, take a jet ski safari or a high-speed catamaran tour around the island. Why not try a water-ski, windsurf, kitesurfing, or parasailing adventure after the safari. Whatever your choice, there is no better way to enjoy Bermuda’s natural beauty than being in, out, or under the water.

Shopping

Bermuda is a shopper’s paradise, whether you are hunting for luxury merchandise at affordable prices or exploring local arts and crafts. You will be tempted by a wide range of international goods and famous brand names: French perfumes, English bone china, Cuban cigars, Swiss watches, silver, crystal and jewelry, Irish linen, Scottish tweeds, Italian silks, cashmere sweaters and many other surprising treats. Better yet, with no added sales tax you can buy many of these goods up to 40 percent lower than in stores in Europe or the United States.

Golf

The island is home to six world-class golf courses, many with pink sand traps and ocean views. While Bermuda’s courses are not the longest, most offer a unique challenge, accentuated always by the ocean breeze and a distracting but breathtaking view at every turn. The Mid Ocean Club in Tucker’s Point is arguably the most famous and picturesque of them all.
